Scope

The Mediterranean Journal of Rheumatology (MJR) is an international peer-reviewed platinum open-access online journal. MJR publishes evidence-based original clinical and translational papers in all fields of the rheumatic diseases. The MJR succeeds Hellenic Rheumatology, which was originally founded in 1989 as the official Journal of the Greek Rheumatology Society and Professional Association of Rheumatologists. In recent days, the Journal's international audience is concentrated in the Mediterranean and the neighboring countries: because of that, the Society has broadened the scope and mission of the journal. Thus, the Journal has adopted an international editorial board and changed the title of the Journal accordingly. Papers are now published in English and manuscripts are scrutinised by independent expert reviewers. The MJR publishes original articles, reviews, guidelines, editorials, case reports, case-based reviews, images in rheumatology, interviews of experts in the field, and meeting reports. The Journal serves the global rheumatology community, as reflected by its contents and its Advisory and Editorial boards. To accomplish our goals, we promote a competitive environment in which authors, editorial board members, academic institutions, rheumatology clinics and professionals are able to contribute to their full potential. To achieve excellence, we promote the submission of high quality original papers in English, operate a rigorous review process from experts in the field and publish the best scientific papers in all aspects of rheumatology, covering modern trends in clinical and experimental research as well as the management of patients with rheumatic and autoinflammatory diseases.
