Scope

The International Journal of the Tsunami Society, SCIENCE OF TSUNAMI HAZARDS, is a highly respected scholarly journal that has been continuously published since 1982. It is the only scientific journal specifically dedicated to the multidisciplinary studies of tsunami and tsunami related hazards. Published in traditional printed format in the past, the journal has been distributed to individual members of the Tsunami Society and to subscribed Institutional organizations and libraries. For the last few years - as is the case with most other scientific journals - "The Science of Tsunami Hazards" has been published in a new, expanded electronic format. This expanded format allows for the rapid dissemination of multidisciplinary, scholarly information related to tsunamis, and contains an easily accessible, online data base of all past published papers. In accordance with its mandate, the Tsunami Society strives to promote awareness, to mitigate tsunami hazards and to provide a focus for discussion and interaction among members of the Society, as well as government agencies and the public. The papers published in the SCIENCE OF TSUNAMI HAZARDS are only a starting point in achieving these goals. The Society encourages that the original documents it publishes will receive elaborate additional commentary and discussion that - over time - will add greatly to the understanding of tsunami hazards and to the impetus for further research.
