Scope

Biotechnology & Bioengineering publishes Perspectives, Articles, Reviews, Mini-Reviews, and Communications to the Editor that embrace all aspects of biotechnology. These include: -Enzyme systems and their applications, including enzyme reactors, purification, and applied aspects of protein engineering -Animal-cell biotechnology, including media development -Applied aspects of cellular physiology, metabolism, and energetics -Biocatalysis and applied enzymology, including enzyme reactors, protein engineering, and nanobiotechnology -Biothermodynamics -Biofuels, including biomass and renewable resource engineering -Biomaterials, including delivery systems and materials for tissue engineering -Bioprocess engineering, including kinetics and modeling of biological systems, transport phenomena in bioreactors, bioreactor design, monitoring, and control -Biosensors and instrumentation -Computational and systems biology, including bioinformatics and genomic/proteomic studies -Environmental biotechnology, including biofilms, algal systems, and bioremediation -Metabolic and cellular engineering -Plant-cell biotechnology -Spectroscopic and other analytical techniques for biotechnological applications -Synthetic biology -Tissue engineering, stem-cell bioengineering, regenerative medicine, gene therapy and delivery systems The editors will consider papers for publication based on novelty, their immediate or future impact on biotechnological processes, and their contribution to the advancement of biochemical engineering science. Submission of papers dealing with routine aspects of bioprocessing, description of established equipment, and routine applications of established methodologies (e.g., control strategies, modeling, experimental methods) is discouraged. Theoretical papers will be judged based on the novelty of the approach and their potential impact, or on their novel capability to predict and elucidate experimental observations. SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.

External Cites per Doc
Cites per Doc

Evolution of the number of total citation per document and external citation per document (i.e. journal self-citations removed) received by a journal's published documents during the three previous years. External citations are calculated by subtracting the number of self-citations from the total number of citations received by the journal’s documents.
