Scope

The Entomological Society of Israel (ESI) was founded on 20 February 1962 after more than 20 years of ad hoc meetings and discussions of various entomological issues. The founders included about 80 members, most prominent of them being Yehezkel Rivnay, Chanan Bitinsky-Zaltz, Rachel Galun, Yitzhak Harpaz, Meir Pener and Shoshana Yatom. The Society is active in promoting various disciplines of the arthropod research, ranging from alpha taxonomy to molecular biology, organizing meetings and granting awards. Members of the ISE meet annually at a Congress for a day or two, where recent achievements in both academic and applied research are reported and discussed. In addition, during the year the society organizes meetings devoted to special topics. Abstracts of the 18-24th presentations were published in Phytoparasitica. The ESI publishes the Israel Journal of Entomology (in English). H. Bytinski-Salz served as the first Editor-in-Chief of the journal in 1962. Subsequent editors included Y. Rivnay, I. Tahori, U. Gerson, Y. Ben Dov and A. Freidberg. This open access journal publishes peer-reviewed contributions in all areas of entomology, including Uniramia other than insects and non-marine Crustacea and Chelicerata, and has a world-wide scope. Membership in the Entomological Society of Israelis will be granted to professional and amateur entomologist on recommendation by two members and after payment of a yearly membership fee. SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.

Cites per Doc

Evolution of the number of total citation per document and external citation per document (i.e. journal self-citations removed) received by a journal's published documents during the three previous years. External citations are calculated by subtracting the number of self-citations from the total number of citations received by the journal’s documents.
