Scope

Concussion is an open access journal from The Drake Foundation, published by Future Science Group. The journal publishes original research, reviews and commentaries addressing the assessment, management, and short- and long-term implications of concussion. Concussion is a subset of traumatic brain injury that occurs after a blow or other injury to the head. It has been defined by the Concussion in Sport Group as "a complex pathophysiological process affecting the brain, induced by biomechanical forces." Exciting developments in the field of biomarker research are shedding new light on how to gauge the severity of concussion immediately after injury, as well as indicating future prognosis. The ongoing and future development of tools and point-of-care tests based on this research will help to ensure appropriate management from the moment of injury and into the long term. The Journal highlights significant advances in basic, translational and clinical research, and places them in context for the future. Topics covered include: Studies and trials in concussion Biomarkers for assessment and predicting adverse effects Optimum biomarker selection, validation and application Management, including return-to-play decisions in sports Pathogenesis Pathology Prognosis. SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.
