Scope

«Geophysical Research» is a peer-review scientific journal that publishes the original papers as well as reviews, scientific meetings announcements and reports and other scientific information within a wide range of geophysical and related problems. The goals are to disseminate the information regarding the modern scientific studies and results, to discuss the relevant problems in geophysics and related disciplines, to inform the society about the important scientific events, to pursue the interchange of ideas between the «academic» and «exploration» geophysics. The discussion of the complex problems at the verge of science and practice, laboratory, field and computational experiments is specifically encouraged. The major scientific directions of the Journal are: Theory and methods of regional and local geophysical studies (including seismology, seismic risk assessment and seismic risk mapping); Theory, methods and algorithms of geophysical data processing and interpretation, the mathematical aspects of the geophysical fields and processes simulation, problems of the effective computation in geophysics, geophysical software; Methodological and metrological aspects of the field and observatory geophysical measurements and their results; Laboratory experiment, petrophysics; Geomagnetism, paleomagnetism and petromagnetism studies; Studies of the external geospheres (atmosphere, ionosphere and magnitosphere) and their interaction with the solid Earth; Geophysical exploration methods; Engineering and ecological geophysics; Geophysical monitoring of the natural and technical objects; Physics of the mining and other underground excavation processes, their geophysical monitoring; Geoinformatics: databases and knowledge bases in Earth sciences, network technologies in geophysical observations, information exchange and computations. Quartiles

The set of journals have been ranked according to their SJR and divided into four equal groups, four quartiles. Q1 (green) comprises the quarter of the journals with the highest values, Q2 (yellow) the second highest values, Q3 (orange) the third highest values and Q4 (red) the lowest values.

SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.
