Scope

By utilizing the open-access model, IMD aims to contribute globally to the translation of basic research findings and the evaluation of current and novel treatments, into the promotion of optimal practices for diagnosis and treatment of infections to improve the public health. IMD strives for a rapid review process and only publishes manuscripts of outstanding quality. IMD provides a forum where all researchers, clinicians and policymakers can exchange their ideas and learn about the most accomplished and significant advances in the field. IMD publishes original articles, review articles, guideline articles, letters, case reports, comments and editorials from all fields related to infectious microbes and diseases, including but not limited to • Basic research on pathogens and medical microbiology • Basic research on infectious diseases • Emerging pathogens and infections • Host-microbe interactions • Microbiota and microbiota disbalance related to infectious diseases and treatment • Epidemiology of infectious diseases • Antimicrobial resistance and novel antimicrobials • Vaccine design, development and evaluation • Genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics related to pathogens and infectious diseases • Neglected tropical diseases and travel medicine • Clinical description of infections • Host immune responses and immunology related to infectious diseases • Optimization of practices in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases • Methodologies, protocols and treatment guidelines Join the conversation about this journal
Quartiles

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.
