Scope

Burns Open, a companion journal to the respected Burns, is an open access, peer reviewed international journal that aims to foster exchange of information in burn care among practitioners and others interested in the field. The journal is published in collaboration with the International Society for Burn Injuries. The journal publishes articles related to the incidence and epidemiology of burns, Burn disasters, investigation of underlying pathophysiology of injury, treatment of burn wounds and other skin conditions including rehabilitation and reconstruction, and outcomes of burn management. There will also be a focus on research related to nursing, occupational and physical therapy, aftercare/reintegration and prevention. Clinical and bench studies, ideas and innovations, and description of techniques and case reports and series are all welcomed and encouraged. Topics covered by Burns Open include: description of the incidence and impact of burns on societies; analysis of the causes of disasters (especially with descriptions of "lessons learned" for future prevention efforts); scientific and clinical effects of smoke and cutaneous injury; description of surgical, medical, and rehabilitation techniques which are, or may be relevant to the treatment of burned patients following injury; and effects of treatments on outcomes, healing and scarring, and re-socialization. The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.
