Scope

A lo largo de su trayectoria, de más de 50 años, la revista Desarrollo Económico ha procurado plasmar tres objetivos. El primero: promover el abordaje de las ciencias sociales a partir de artículos y notas basadas en el rigor lógico de los argumentos y en su correspondiente fundamentación empírica. El segundo: canalizar la producción de los cientistas sociales del país con vistas a la consolidación de la comunidad académica en torno de pautas de calidad y de relevancia intelectual. Finalmente, ofrecer una ventana a las discusiones y debates que periódicamente interesan a las ciencias sociales en el mundo. Junto a estos tres objetivos, la revista se ha esforzado por mantener su formato original, esto es, una publicación multidisciplinaria. Fundada a principios de 1960, en momentos en que estaba en vías de institucionalizarse la modernización de las ciencias sociales, la revista dio cabida a las contribuciones de las diversas disciplinas, la economía, la sociología, la historia, la politología, la antropología. Ese proceso de institucionalización avanzó y con el paso de los años fueron surgiendo publicaciones especializadas. No obstante ello, Desarrollo Económico se ha esforzado por conservar su amplio registro inicial porque ha querido ser fiel a la inspiración de sus fundadores, para quienes el diálogo a través de las fronteras es un estímulo a la creatividad y a la comprensión integral de la realidad social, económica y política de nuestro tiempo. Quartiles

The set of journals have been ranked according to their SJR and divided into four equal groups, four quartiles. Q1 (green) comprises the quarter of the journals with the highest values, Q2 (yellow) the second highest values, Q3 (orange) the third highest values and Q4 (red) the lowest values.

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.
