Scope

Archivio Glottologico Italiano (AGI) is a more than hundred year-old journal, founded by Graziadio Isaia Ascoli in 1873. In the course of its history AGI has been directed by some of the most distinguished Italian scholars in linguistics, including Carlo Salvioni, Matteo Bartoli, Vittore Pisani, Benvenuto Terracini, Giacomo Devoto and Romano Lazzeroni. The scientific framework of the journal is described in the article ‘Nel solco dell’Ascoli’ (Vol. 74.1, 1989), which opened the new serie. AGI invites contributions discussing topics that relate to almost all the traditional disciplines of linguistics, with special attention to Indo-European and Romance linguistics and to synchronic / diachronic aspects of the Italian language and its dialects.
